17" South Sea Necklace Strand - 33 South Sea Pearls, Circled, 10-12mm
Posh Pearls is very
excited to have this rare light-champagne overtone, hard-to-find ringed-shape,
33 piece South Sea pearl necklace to offer for sale. Item STD 4208 is an extra
special ‘dragon tears’ quality necklace that will totally delight one very
lucky pearl savvy woman.
Rare = Once upon a time, totally round pearls were extremely hard to
find and they became the most sought after pearls in the land. With technology
what it is today, many people around the globe are engineering totally round
pearls, so that they are now very common in some geographic locations.
Circle or ringed pearls are only found in South Sea or Tahitian pearls, and are
not among the common shapes that form in pearls. It can take many years of
pearl harvesting to collect the 33 pieces that are displayed together in this
necklace, and longer to collect the pearls all alike in this uncommon color
tone.
It is not often that you will be able to see 33 light-champagne overtone South
Sea pearls in this shape all in one place. Posh Pearls would like you to move
your mouse over the necklace picture to admire this stunning collection.
History = South Sea pearls were once only worn by royalty, and all
shades of golden matching pearls were very hard to find. Pearls were given as
gifts, and very special pearls were given as wedding presents in hopes that
they would bring prosperity.
From the long-ago days, pearls were thought to have been made by dragon tears
that
landed in the ocean. Golden tears were very special icons. Dragon tears in
golden tones elevated the status of the wearer within royal households.
Grade = A. Pearls are graded by quality of shine on the nacre
(outer-shell) and the nacre ability in light refraction. Grade A is an
admirable top ‘A’ rating that will have a soft swirling iridescence showing
that will dazzle when light strikes the surface. All South Sea pearls have a
very thick nacre, and this is why so many prefer South Sea pearls over all
other kinds.
Shape = Circle that are also called ringed pearls. Ringed pearls have
concave circles that go around the body of the pearl. Each ringed pearl will be
unique, with no two pearls having an exact match in the banding patterns. It is
the uniqueness of each pearl that allows for their specialness.
Color = Golden colored pearls in all shades are in high demand today for
their ability to appear like magical golden jewelry that is somehow shimmering
with an unusual depth-of-color that is produced by the pearls natural opalescence
on the very thick South Sea pearl nacre.
Please see the photo again and admire the very pleasing golden glow that this
shade of South Sea pearls sends out. The necklace has truly beautiful colorings
when seen in person.
